Join Right to Roam for a mass trespass in the Prime Minister’s constituency

On the 13th September we’re organising a mass trespass in Makerfield.

Makerfield is now the constituency of the UK’s Prime Minister, Andy Burnham. He’s promised a politics that puts “place first”. Love of place comes through being able to explore it.

There’s a right to roam over just 1% of the constituency of Makerfield. Despite big swathes of Makerfield being Green Belt land, local residents are shut out of the countryside that’s on their doorstep.

Makerfield exemplifies an injustice that affects everyone in this country. Nature is vital to everyone’s health and happiness, but we have a right to roam over just 8% of England. Wealthy landowners own the vast majority of the country and use barbed wire fences and outdated trespass laws to stop the rest of us accessing it.
